Ground ball screws

A ground ball screw is manufactured with a very smooth surface finish and extremely uniform thread geometry. The smoothness is achieved through a grinding process, where the screw’s outer surface is precisely treated to become as flat and even as possible. This allows the screw to move smoothly and consistently inside the nut.

Description

Ground ball screws are typically used in high-precision applications where exceptionally smooth and accurate movement is required—such as in machine tools, robotics, and medical technology. They’re also ideal for applications that demand high load capacity and a long service life.

To maintain the high quality and performance of a ground ball screw, regular lubrication and maintenance are key. They should also be protected from dirt and damage to preserve their surface finish and precision.

At Avans, we offer ground ball screws with diameters ranging from 3 to 160 mm and lengths up to 15.5 meters. We work with Europe’s largest suppliers and can deliver directly from the factory when time is critical.
